Just across the Willamette River from downtown, Northeast Portland’s Lloyd neighborhood contains the Oregon Convention Center, Lloyd Center Mall and the Moda Center, home to Portland’s NBA team, the Portland Trail Blazers, and major concerts and events — it can be easily reached by public transportation, including MAX Light Rail and the Portland Streetcar.

Portland’s home for epic concerts, sporting events, and major gatherings, Northeast Portland’s Lloyd neighborhood beckons fans of all kinds from across the country, year-round. Anchoring the area is the Rose Quarter, where the Moda Center is home to the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers and also hosts major touring musical acts and national sporting events.
Fans also fill up Spirit of 77, a home-grown sports bar where they can pre-game with free pop-a-shot games, and fuel up on pub fare with a gourmet spin. The bar’s name commemorates the year that the Blazers won their only championship. Next door, the Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum is where the Portland Winterhawks play in the Western Hockey League.
While you can’t get on the ice at the coliseum, you can lace up your skates at the nearby Lloyd Center, of all places. Located on the shopping center’s first floor, the Lloyd Center Ice Rink is where former U.S. champion Tonya Harding learned her Salchows, loops, and Axels.
The Oregon Convention Center is the Pacific Northwest’s largest event space and a hub for national meetings. The Convention Center also hosts frequent gatherings, from the Rose City Comic Con to the annual Crafty Wonderland Holiday Art + Craft Market.
