We do that by promoting the destination in bold, innovative and collaborative ways that harness Portland’s personality and values and that connect visitors to authentic experiences.
We do it because we believe in the good of Portland and the transformative effects of travel.
The Impact of Tourism
In 2022, visitors to Portland spent $5.2 billion, producing $248 million in state and local tax revenue. The travel industry supports 32,700 jobs in the Portland area, generating $2.3 billion in employment earnings.
Promoting Portland to Leisure Travelers
We promote Portland as a destination for leisure travel through advertising and events, and by supporting the work of national and international travel writers.
Promoting Portland as a Convention Destination
We promote Portland as a destination for conventions, conferences and other large groups through marketing, sales and support activities.
Providing Information to Visitors
We provide information to visitors so that they can make the most of their stay.
Managing the Destination
We work with community and regional stakeholders to actively manage the destination.
How We Operate
Founded in 1978 as Greater Portland Convention and Visitors Association, Travel Portland is a private not for profit Destination Marketing and Management Organization. We are primarily funded by local lodging taxes and receive additional revenues from our contract to market the Oregon Convention Center, partner dues and co-op programs.
