Looking for an heirloom-quality ring, on-trend pair of earrings or statement necklace you can treasure long after your vacation ends? Your search for stunning, made-in-Portland jewelry starts with our guide.

Betsy & Iya

Housed in its flagship Northwest Portland shop/studio, this jewelry line founded by designer Betsy Cross has a fresh, modern feel. Their pieces often include plenty of brass, gold and geometric-style cutouts. The unique Bridge Cuff Collection takes inspiration from five of Portland’s iconic bridges. Each design pays homage to a different bridge. The bridges’ graphical coordinates and opening dates are also encoded on the inside surface of each bracelet.

Allison Ullmer

From Tahitian pearl cuff earrings to bangles studded with colored diamonds, Allison Ullmer’s distinctive jewelry celebrates the beauty of adornment. Using 100% recycled gold and sterling silver, this metalsmith crafts strong, versatile pieces with baroque-inspired patterns.

Bonus: For couples interested in making their own wedding bands, Ullmer offers Ringed, a one-day jewelry-making workshop. Couples construct their own pair of 14 karat gold bands while learning how to solder, texture and sand.

Beach Bones

Hand-picked crystals, shells and stones are all found in this beach-inspired jewelry collection by designer Nicolette Peterson, a Southern California native whose work is deeply influenced by her love of the ocean. Organic lines and translucent colors create dreamy pieces and bring a subtle touch of boho to any look. (Not into shell art? Peterson offers elegant gold earrings and sleek silver cuffs, as well.)

Dea Dia

Using traditional metalworking methods like lost-wax casting, Dea Dia designer Jessica Lawson crafts jewelry that’s both rustic and modern. Case in point: the Pyrite and Galena Druzy Cocktail Ring. This piece comes with hand-crushed pyrite chunks that sparkle unexpectedly in a square or circle bezel. Dea Dia’s Mississippi district store stocks the full jewelry line, as well as clothing, apothecary goods and home décor.

Seaworthy

Designer Marisa Howard leads this community-minded company, crafting handmade pieces declared “fit for travel” (the definition of “seaworthy”). Recycled brass, bronze and sterling silver are the foundation of her collections. Stones ranging from subtle rose quartz and moonstone to bolder lapis and malachite grace the rings and earrings. Seaworthy donates 1% of its retail sales to causes it believes in, including the Oregon Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.

Alison Jean Cole

This self-professed rock-and-mineral nerd searches abandoned mines and canyons to find the raw materials that comprise her colorful jewelry. At once earthy and edgy, each piece reflects Alison Jean Cole’s love for the natural world and its hidden treasures. Brighten your wardrobe with earrings made of green Adventurine, blue Lapis Lazuli or bubblegum-pink Rhodonite, or opt for a rainbow Herringbone Circle Necklace featuring seven different minerals.
