Pearl District & NW Portland Brewery Tour
Imbibe at Portland beer giants, local favorites and outposts of renowned breweries from around the region.
Filled with chic boutiques, galleries and dining destinations, the upscale Pearl District and charming Northwest Portland (aka Nob Hill) are just a quick streetcar hop from downtown. Home of the historic Brewery Blocks, where Henry Weinhard launched Portland’s brewing legacy in the 1860s, the area also claims a diverse mix of local and regional breweries, making it a favorite site for a Beervana pilgrimage.
Deschutes Brewery
The next leg of your tour features several breweries that got their start outside of Portland — Deschutes Brewery is up first. Based in Bend, Oregon, this brewery is famous for its chocolaty Black Butte Porter, hoppy Mirror Pond Pale Ale and bold Inversion IPA. Expect all three on tap here, along with an ever-changing list of experimental, made-in-Portland brews (past experiments have yielded fun results like Smoked Oyster Stout and Birdshot ISA). Healthy portions of locally inspired (and sourced) dishes like elk burgers, Dungeness crab rolls, and mac and cheese prepared with the brewery’s creamy stout also make Deschutes a popular dining destination.

Backwoods Brewing
In 2012, Backwoods Brewing got its start in Carson, Washington, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Columbia River Gorge. They brought their brand of rustic Pacific Northwest brewing to the Pearl District in 2018. Try one of their core beers — like the Logyard IPA or the Post Trail Pale — or go for a special release. Their family-friendly dining room is a great place to fill up on bar food classics like chicken wings, nachos and burgers. They also offer local wine, craft cocktails and happy hour specials.
