Perched on the 15th floor atop the Nines hotel in downtown Portland, award-winning pan-Asian restaurant Departure was named one of America’s hottest hotel rooftop bars by Travel + Leisure. Nibble happy hour bowls of edamame and spicy tuna as you admire sights of distant Mount Hood and the adjacent Pioneer Courthouse Square.

Noble Rot

This fourth-floor wine bar combines form and function. Its lush, sprawling rooftop garden invites delighted locavores to munch on hyper-local organic greens harvested by Noble Rot chefs only hours earlier. Plan your visit for Tuesday at 5 p.m. to catch a free garden tour.

Radio Room

Equipped with space heaters and a fireplace for cooler evenings, the upper deck at Radio Room is a perfect perch from which to sip sugar-rimmed vodka lemonade and watch the colorful characters of the Alberta Arts District. If you want a birds-eye view, you’ll have to leave the kids behind, as the smoking-friendly deck is adults-only.

10 Barrel Brewing
