Pine State Biscuits takes comfort food to new heights. Literally. The buttered-up biscuits are piled with all the fixings, including eggs, bacon, gravy, buttermilk fried chicken and even flank steak. Skip the legendary wait by dropping by during extended hours on Friday or Saturday evenings. Portions (and crowds) aren’t much thinner at the Grilled Cheese Grill. This converted school bus serves outrageously good grilled cheese sandwiches (think melted brie with roasted peppers and fresh tomatoes) and the Original Cheesus, a third-pound burger set between two — you guessed it — grilled cheeses.
At The Bye and Bye, late-night noshers get a tasty lesson in vegan fare — plus tasty cocktails served in Mason jars. Roll-up garage doors and a spacious back patio add to the comfortable vibe. Tin Shed Garden Café is a longtime favorite for its fresh breakfasts and homey patio, complete with tree and fireplace. Feel free to bring Fido; the Tin Shed is so pet-friendly, they even have a menu for dogs! Family-run taquería La Bonita offers quick, affordable Mexican delights, including tacos and fresh salsas.
