Division/Clinton Shopping

Vintage fashion, home furnishings and Oregon foodstuff turn these streets into a treasure trove for shoppers.

Updated Oct. 29, 2020 2 min read Division/Clinton

Tucked within a dense residential enclave, the shops of Southeast Division and Clinton street are geared to locals and offer some of the city’s most authentic souvenirs for visitors.

Retro style doesn’t get more authentic than the vinyl stocked at Clinton Street Record and Stereo, where customers can dig through rare records and pick up high-quality audio gear — including vintage headphones.

Foods

Begin where Division Street’s heralded food scene got its start back in 1999: Stumptown Coffee Roasters. With brewers, grinders and beans by the bag, this neighborhood café is home to more than just expertly brewed joe.

Nearby, the Southeast Wine Collective pours and sells bottles from five urban wineries that offer a range of varietals and specialize in excellent Pinot noirs.

Fashion

Throwback style combines with Portland’s fondness for craft goods at Donna & Toots, a women’s clothing boutique that sells hand-made blouses and dresses at off-the-rack prices. Like what you see? Learn to make your own in their weekly sewing classes.

The mood takes a decidedly glamorous turn at Xtabay Vintage Clothing Boutique, known for its collection of designer gowns, elegant accessories and fanciful footwear, nestled in a boudoir-like setting that calls to mind a Doris Day film.

Tucked in a strip of antique shops, ReBelle’s, a boutique opened in 2012 by Louisiana transplant Tausha Lell, is filled with vintage clothing finds, artists’ wares, a custom perfume bar with nearly 60 fragrances and oils, and an ample dose of Southern charm. Make your P-town look complete with a handcrafted necklace and a funky pair of Mary Janes or faux leather boots from Ether Shoes.

Dress Like a Portlander

To dress like a Portlander, be prepared to cycle to work, dodge raindrops and hoof it to a gallery opening in one versatile ensemble.

Browse beautifully illustrated books, planners and handmade paper goods at Little Otsu. Formerly based in San Francisco, this is the local publisher’s only retail outlet.

Equal parts clay studio and curio-laden gift shop, Carter & Rose was founded by two best friends, a ceramicist and a florist. The charmingly curated store sells ceramic air plant wall planters and made-in-Portland bags, jewelry and home goods.
