Haiku in Nature

Haiku, a short form of Japanese poetry, lets the writer convey a direct and personal connection with nature. Writing haiku can deepen our experience of the natural world. Using a simple written formula, anyone can write haiku. This class introduces participants to classical haiku poetry, and guides them to write their own haikus while spending time in nature. Participants can share what they’ve written with the group if they choose to do so. Haiku themes often focus on seasonal changes.
