With summer just around the corner, Memorial Day weekend always promises a slew of vacation-level-fun events and activities in the Rose City. Start the holiday with a bang at the Portland Rose Festival’s opening night fireworks show at Tom McCall WaterFront Park, followed by the first weekend of the Rose Fest CityFair.

Outdoor adventurers can challenge themselves at a half-marathon or 50k race through Forest Park during the annual Stumptown Trail Runs, or take to the pavement for a race-based tour through the Willamette Valley during the Oregon Spring Half Marathon. Visitors and locals alike can dip their toes into Portland’s musical history at the Vanport Mosaic Festival, ride a camel at the Multnomah County Fair, sip Oregon-made wines at Hip Chicks Do Wine, dance the night away at the Crystal Ballroom, or catch Bon Iver at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
