True Life – A Shooter’s Story
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
The play tells the story of Winter, a boy who has suffered abuse, becomes an incorrigible adolescent and ultimately commits an atrocity. Winter is guided through his story by a counselor, Rachel Silver who seeks to help Winter face the reckoning for what he has done. It is Rachel’s hope that Winter will find a path to live as a human being, even in the circumstance of a True Life sentence. Dr. Bolstadt will be present for a talk back after the staged reading of the play. The play will be directed by Equity Actress, Sarah Lucht, who will also play Rachel.
“True Life – A Shooter’s Story” is a three act play. It was inspired by the therapeutic work of Portland forensic psychologist, Orin Bolstad. Dr. Bolstad created a therapeutic intervention program for young men imprisoned as a result of mass shootings and other serious crimes.
