Join the Portland Art Museum for a cutting-edge workshop designed for families with kids ages 11+ who are curious about technology and eager to dive into the world of virtual reality. In this hands-on, collaborative program, discover what VR is all about and how to navigate its wonders. Using hands-on activities, participants will experiment with different headsets, play collaborative VR games, and get comfortable with the technology.

Led by experienced teaching artists Rachel Bracker and Forrest Brennan of Hungry Mantis VR, families will learn the art of creating in virtual reality. From experiencing VR films to crafting avatars, constructing worlds, and sharing their creations, participants can unleash their creativity in the virtual realm. But that’s not all — families will experiment with 360° film cameras, taking an immersive photo. Throughout the workshop, explore a variety of tools and techniques to bring imaginative visions to life.

Enjoy a day filled with imagination, exploration, and endless possibilities in the captivating world of Journey to the Future // A Family Guide to Virtual Reality & 360° Filmmaking.
