Preoccupations proudly present Ill at Ease, their fifth album and first release on the Born Losers label. After 13 years of relentless touring, recording, and personal challenges, the band reflects on their journey. Despite the obstacles—broken bones, lost gear, and personal struggles—they’ve persevered and played over 400 shows globally, aging and evolving together through it all. Their earlier albums have seen mixed reception, but Ill at Ease marks a new chapter, drawing from uncharted influences and themes.
Lyrically, the album continues their exploration of dark, introspective subjects. The songs are shaped by personal anxieties and bleak landscapes, from dystopian imagery to existential reflections. The band channels feelings of disillusionment with the world, contemplating the fragility of life and the weight of their own existence.
