Powell's After Hours: A Most Peculiar Evening

Powell’s will close early at 5 p.m. and reopen at 6 p.m. for a ticketed Halloween and costume party among the stacks. Expect tarot readers, magicians, typewriter poets, a DJ, a balloon sculptor, a calligrapher making custom bookmarks, and a llama and alpaca in Halloween costumes for photo ops. Local food and drink vendors include Astral, Taylor Street Kitchen, NGOT, Kate’s Ice Cream, La Casa de Mama, Henderson Ave, Away Days Brewing, Multnomah Whiskey Library, and Roste Chocolate House, with more being added weekly.
New this year: a carnival in the Red Room with pay-to-play games, with proceeds benefiting Street Books.
- General Admission, $35: after-hours shopping, carnival games, entertainment and themed activities, a costume contest with prizes, and local food, drink, and lifestyle vendors (available for purchase)
- VIP, $125: early entry, a hosted culinary spread, two drinks from the VIP bar hosted by Multnomah Whiskey Library, a dedicated VIP space, a chance to mingle with local authors, a Powell’s tote, priority checkout, and all General Admission benefits
