Annie Bloom’s Books welcomes Canadian author Nicole Brooks for a reading from her new thriller, No Higher Ground. Nicole will be in conversation with local author Rene Denfeld.

Nicole Brooks has a Bachelor of Environmental Science and a lifelong love of reading, which has enabled her to blend two of her passions—nature and writing—into stories that put people into the thick of environmental disasters. She lives just outside Calgary with her husband and two daughters and can be found curled up with a book during long, cold Canadian winters, searching the skies for bald eagles, or hurting herself while playing pickleball. No Higher Ground is her thriller debut.
Rene Denfeld is the USA Today bestselling author of five novels, including The Enchanted, The Child Finder and The Talking Bone. Her novels are inspired by her real-life justice work, which includes hundreds of cases over nearly twenty years. She has exonerated innocents and helped trafficking victims. The winner of numerous prestigious literary awards, she lives in Portland, Oregon. In 2017, The New York Times named her the Hero of the Year.
