Block Printing on Linen with Artist Kristin Loganbill

Learn how to hand-carve rubber blocks and stamp linen tea towels with your own designs. In this workshop, Seattle block-print artist Kristin Loganbill will teach the methods and materials for creating a pleasing block-printed design. Participants will learn how to design, draw, transfer and carve their own simple design onto a soft rubber block and learn about the tools and inks needed for this venture. By the end of the workshop, participants will have two finished linen tea towels to take home–the towels are cut and sewn in advance by our guest artist instructor, Kristin Loganbill.
All supplies and materials are provided for you, including rubber blocks, all the tools needed to create your finished block, and a wide selection of fabric ink colors to use in class. If you prefer, you may also use Kristin’s gorgeous pre-carved blocks to stamp your towels. Kristin’s stamps include a variety of designs, including birds, flowers, plants, abstracts, and more.

Using pencils, rubber blocks, carving tools (don’t worry, the rubber is quite soft), and non-toxic fabric paint. The inks used are fast drying and will be dry by the end of class.
