The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Javier Puga-Phillips and Take Two bar are hosting the official Pride block party of Northeast Portland. With a slew of drag performances and DJ sets from Miss Jaxon, Maracuya, ALoSo, 1-800-WHITTAKER and more. There will be a yoga flow from The People’s Yoga. Ready Set Grow will host a dance segment.
All the restaurants and cafés in a one-block radius are also participating: Gabbiano’s, Gabby’s Next Door, Bardo, Wilder, Estes, Extracto and Jet Black. Common Ground Wellness will be hosting a massage tent for sample sessions. The evening will end with a gay karaoke night inside Take Two with Bil and Chris (the regular Sunday karaoke night). It’s going to be a food, beverage, wellness and dance festival (and resource fair) for an incredible cause.
This Pride celebration benefits Edúcate Ya. Rafael Arellano-Barrera founded the organization in response to a lack of Latinxs in leadership and managerial roles. His vision was to create an organization that would educate Latinxs on how to navigate the Western system to achieve better jobs and health care, helping them eventually become leaders in American Society. The mission of Edúcate Ya is to facilitate multi-cultural exchange and address the integration challenges faced by Latinxs in Oregon through bilingual health, leadership, cultural and education programs.
There are also a few surprises and tricks in store. This is not one to be missed. Come see your neighbors in Concordia for an all-day Pride party.
