Symposium
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Science fiction conventions in Portland (as well as the sponsoring organization, OSFCI) got their start in 1978 with the PorSFiS Symposium, a one-day event at Portland State University. That tradition is being revived with a small SF literary event this summer, Symposium 2026, helping fill the gap left by OryCon’s demise. This one-day event will be a reach-out to fans who have enjoyed Portland-area literary events and embrace their enthusiasm for science fiction and fantasy writing in books, films, and television. Enjoy a simple, small daytime event that allows fans to celebrate the career and achievements of Steve Perry, who currently resides in the Portland metro area. Providing a model for creating future similar events.
Children 9 and under are admitted free, but there are no children’s activities. Admission is good all day and applies whether you attend one panel or all of them. This is a single-day event, and it will conclude before dinner. Most people should be able to arrive after breakfast and return home by early evening.
