Portland’s Cultural Corridor, a collection of arts institutions, spaces and galleries, will debut its inaugural summit, Portland Arts Week: Art and Sports. This gathering of local luminaries and national thought-leaders will activate the Corridor, spotlight initiatives across the city, and illuminate connections between Portland and the wider world of art and sports. Nationwide, sports teams and art museums are exploring partnership opportunities to enrich communities, expand audiences, and add value to existing brands. Art and Sports bring this conversation home to Portland, a community long invested in both sides of the equation. As the city welcomes its new Portland Fire WNBA team and looks toward new projects to build the city’s reputation and sport-related initiatives, Portland Art Week presents Art & Sports as a platform to explore the connections between creative culture and athletic innovation. “Cities around the globe are defined by their art weeks, and no city on the West Coast has the foundation Portland has with our Cultural Corridor,” said Elizabeth Leach, Owner of Elizabeth Leach Gallery and Chair of Portland Arts Week. “The incredible coalition coming together for the first Portland Arts Week is built to turn that into a global conversation — and in 2026, there’s no better theme to start with than the intersection of art and sport.”

The purpose of this and future summits is to amplify Portland’s various cultural innovators, instill a sense of civic collaboration, generate revenue for businesses, and create a richer arts narrative for Portland. Portland Art Week celebrates the Cultural Corridor, which has the highest density of art venues within walking distance of any city on the West Coast. The annual event celebrates Portland’s arts collective, each year centered around a different theme. This year, the theme Art and Sports was selected to celebrate the WNBA and other significant sporting events in the city.
