The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

On Valentine’s Day, come create a custom-fitted sauna hat using natural wool sourced from Pacific Northwest shepherds in this hands-on, playful workshop. This specific class is in collaboration with the first-ever Winter Sauna Festival. Held on the beautiful shores of the Willamette River. Be sure to purchase sauna passes to round out a fun weekend.

Using traditional wet-felting techniques—just warm water, soap, and your hands—shape and felt wool into a functional, beautiful hat designed for comfort and heat regulation in the sauna. Along the way, you’ll learn about the role of textiles in sauna culture, how natural fibers perform under heat and steam, and why felted wool has been used across cultures for protection and care. This workshop is both practical and joyful, offering the chance to make something you’ll use again and again. Perfect for sauna lovers, curious makers, and anyone wanting a tactile, creative experience rooted in local materials and slow craft.

Note: The workshop requires continuous physical strength while standing. Recommended ages are 14 and above. Please email temptresstruffles@gmail.com for questions, payments or additional class dates.
