Back by popular demand. Have you wondered what the difference is between gouache and watercolor, or how to use pastels, or why so many artists are obsessed with Neo-colors? Do you want to learn how to use acrylic inks in multi-media pieces, or discover the magic of a stick of charcoal? Let the Church of Art’s addiction to art supplies be your boon.

In this workshop, artist Erika Halperin will guide you through the exploration of one medium at a time and discuss what the pigment is made of, how it works, and play with how it interacts with other mediums. Incorporate wax and tape resists (don’t worry–you’ll learn what that means), mark-making with unusual objects, dry brushing, and experimenting with the introduction of salt and water to various materials.

Then transform colorful, experimental pages into either note cards you can use however you’d like (think: gift tags or leaving sweet nothings for your people) OR small, delightful concertina books you can take home and enjoy.

Supplies to be Used:

Watercolor, gouache, acrylic ink, acrylic paint, graphite, charcoal, chalk and oil pastels, colored pencils, Neo-colors I and II, and more!.

Includes:

2.5 hours of mark making in a supportive, friendly environment (No need to consider yourself an artist)

Access to a beautiful array of high-quality art media (no need to bring anything)

Color and materials help spark your creativity

Light snacks and NA beverages

Artwork made by your own hands that’s yours to keep
