Art Journaling and Collage
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Welcome to the Church of Art’s weekend of bookmaking and art journaling. It is recommended to sign up for both Saturday and Sunday’s workshops; however, you are free to register for one event and not the other.
Note: Although this workshop is intended to be a continuation of the previous day’s bookmaking workshop, attendance on the previous day is not required, and this workshop is open to everyone.
Part II: Sunday, March 1st, from noon to 3 p.m.: Art Journaling (3 hours)
Fran and Erika will guide you as you begin filling your homemade art journal (or bring a sketchbook, if you didn’t attend the Saturday bookmaking workshop). Together, play around with the many ways you can use your handmade journal pages, including collage and painting. For collage, either dig into the huge collection of collage papers or bring your own materials. There will also be a demonstration on preparing some of your journal pages for drawing.
A collection of handmade art journals will be available for you to browse for inspiration.
You are welcome to attend this event even if you didn’t register for Saturday’s bookmaking portion, just remember to bring an art journal or sketchbook with you.
Using: Gesso, old books, magazines, tissue paper, ink pens, POSCA markers, graphite, gouache, colored pencils, glue, Mod Podge, and acrylic mediums.
Includes:
- 3 hours of art journaling and collage in a supportive, friendly environment
- Access to a beautiful array of high-quality art media (bring only the book you made on Saturday or your personal art journal/sketchbook)
- Light snacks + non-alcoholic beverages
- Beautiful, handmade art journal that’s yours to keep and continue to use
