Keola Beamer and Henry Kapono each became an icon in the 1970s, at the creative forefront as Hawaiian music reinvented itself during the “Hawaiian Renaissance”. They have continued to lead the way for over 5 decades. Keola Beamer, one of Hawai’i’s premier singer-songwriters, composers and guitar masters who is honored in the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame, helped launch the 70s statewide revival of slack key guitar and released top-selling Honolulu City Lights. His wife Moanalani Beamer performs hula as well as chants and traditional Hawaiian instruments. Henry Kapono, a Grammy-nominated and award-winning singer and songwriter, forged the sound of 70s Hawaiian music as part of the wildly popular, laid-back contemporary island rock of C&K. Today as a solo artist with 21 Na Hoku (Hawaiian Grammy) awards to his name, including Favorite Entertainer by popular vote, Henry continues to celebrate his love for his family, his pride in his Hawaiian culture, and his joy for his home in the Islands.
