Home to over 75 artist studios nestled in the foothills of Forest Park, NW Marine Art Works may be one of Portland’s best-kept secrets…

Want to tour this refurbished industrial complex and mingle with the artists who call this magical place home? NW Marine Art Works is opening its doors for a two-day Open Studios and Holiday Market, offering an experience unlike any other. Visitors will find artists at work, watch engaging demos, and explore this unique art community housed within a fascinating historical complex hidden in Portland’s NW Industrial area.

This vibrant semi-annual event is a magical affair that showcases Portland’s creative spirit. With more than 75 local artists and artisans participating, visitors will find gifts for everyone on their list. From jewelry and apparel to paintings and printmaking, ceramics, photography, sculpture, accessories and housewares — this unique opportunity to shop directly from the makers is unlike any other holiday market.

Listen to live music and enjoy local food and drink while exploring the spaces where some of Portland’s best art is created. Warm drinks will be available to help ease the chill, but since this event is held in a large and sometimes drafty industrial building, be sure to bundle up.

You’ll also want to check out Staver Locomotive’s “Winter Steam Up,” located just across the street. You’ll have the rare chance to be mesmerized by their impressive collection of steam trains roaming the tracks from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
