Land and People of the Willamette Valley
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Join the Grand Opening of the newest exhibit, “Land and People of the Willamette Valley: A History Shaped by the River,” coming to the Museum of the Oregon Territory. Learn about the many communities — Indigenous, Black, Chinese, Japanese, Latinx, and White — that influenced the valley. Hear from Clackamas-descended community leaders, industry professionals, and environmental stewards on what the Willamette River means to them. Get hands-on — use Morse code to send a message to a friend, quiz yourself on valley facts, and leave your memories of the river on the postcard wall.
Hear from special guests, including Oregon City Mayor Denyse McGriff, as they kick off the exhibit. Then, dive in and explore the history and interactive experiences for yourself.
The exhibit’s grand opening will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Museum of the Oregon Territory. See website for admission prices. Thanks to the Union Pacific Community Ties Giving Program, Clackamas County residents receive free admission to the museum.
