The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

Come be in community on this beautiful land, share food, and learn how to make and use biochar. Biochar is a charcoal-like soil amendment that has been used for millennia by Indigenous communities to build fertile, resilient soils.

In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to easily create biochar at home using your backyard or fire pit. You will make biochar, connect with fire, and learn more about the process and uses.

PLEASE BRING:

  • A potluck dish to share
  • A plate and utensils
  • Layers for warmth
  • Cup for water/tea

All ages welcome

$5-25 sliding scale

BIPOC and Trans are Free

NOTALOF: Pay what you can. No one turned away for lack of funds.

Please get your tickets before the event. This really helps with logistics and preparing for the event.

If you are unable to register ahead of time, you’re also welcome to drop in and pay in person (cash or Venmo).

Please park on the farm side of the street anywhere up or down the street. Do NOT park on the grass across the street from the farm (you will see “No Parking” signs). This is important for safety vehicles to pass through. We reserve 2 driveway parking spots (in the gravel, on the right) for folks with accessibility needs.

The venue is not certified ADA accessible. The farm’s bathroom is not technically ADA accessible, but has been used by folks with wheelchairs. The majority of the farm itself is accessible, though not all parts are (we have some narrow pathways). Note that we use woodchips for the majority of our pathways.

If you’re feeling unwell, we kindly ask that you rest at home and join another time. Masks are not required for this gathering, but you are encouraged to mask or distance in whatever way feels right for you.
