What really happens inside the body when a diver ascends too quickly—and how does hyperbaric oxygen therapy save lives? Join Enoch Huang, MD, MPH&TM, FACEP, FUHM, FACCWS, Medical Director of the Hyperbaric Medicine and Chronic Wound Care Clinic at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, for a deep dive into the science, physiology, and real-world practice of treating decompression illness.

Dr. Huang is board-certified in both Emergency Medicine and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine and has spent more than two decades at the forefront of diving medicine, hyperbaric research, and clinical innovation. His career spans service at major academic centers, leadership in the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society, and ongoing research on the impact of hyperbaric oxygen on wound healing, glucose monitoring technology, and hypoxemia related to COVID-19.

In this accessible, engaging talk, Dr. Huang will unravel the physics and physiology behind decompression illness, explain what hyperbaric oxygen does at a cellular level, and share insights from inside the hyperbaric chamber. Whether you’re a diver, a science enthusiast, or simply curious about what happens when humans push the limits of pressure, you’ll come away with a new appreciation for this fascinating corner of medicine.

Dive in—you might surface with a whole new understanding of how bodies respond to the deep.
