The Last Anthem by rising star Dimitris Skyllas gives voice to memories that are too important to be forgotten. Co-commissioned by Cappella Romana with the İstanbul Festival, it remembers those caught in the “Exchange of Populations” between Greece and Türkiye after World War I, with poetry in English, Greek, and Turkish. It also includes poignant selections from Mikis Theodorakis’s Requiem (Zorba the Greek), a memorial work by John Tavener, and the world premiere of Christos Hatzis’s Mystical Versicles.
