Welcome to the SUMMER OF ’99, before smartphones, social media, and streaming. Pre-doom scroll, bed rot, and AI ubiquity. 1999 wasn’t just another year—it was THE year. The one that redefined cinema. It was a launching pad for today’s biggest filmmakers, a breakout year for indie film, and a cultural turning point that echoes today. To celebrate, Tomorrow Theater is hosting a DOUBLE EXPOSURE celebrating the late, great Brittany Murphy, featuring: Girl, Interrupted and Drop Dead Gorgeous.

Set in the changing world of the late 1960s, Susanna Kaysen (played by Winona Ryder) is prescribed “short rest” by a psychiatrist she has met only once. It leads her on a strange journey into Alice’s Wonderland, where she struggles with the thin line between normal and crazy. Susanna soon realizes how hard it is to get out once she has been committed, and she ultimately has to choose between the world of people who belong inside or the difficult world of reality outside. Starring Winona Ryder, Angelina Jolie, Clea DuVall, Brittany Murphy, Elisabeth Moss, Jared Leto, Angela Bettis, Jeffrey Tambor, Vanessa Redgrave, and Whoopi Goldberg.
