The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

With their unique instrumentation—soprano saxophone, alto flute, cello, guitar, and hand percussion—Quarteto Nuevo merges western classical, eastern European folk, Latin, and jazz with an organic feel that packs a wallop. The ensemble’s razor-sharp precision is enhanced by jazzy interludes, lightly rumbling percussion motifs, and mesmerizing rhythms. Presented by Friends of Chamber Music.

“Deftly weaving between jazzy improvisation and syncopations that surprise and delight, these four musicians are truly a symphony unto themselves.” Montana Public Radio

Program: World Fusion
Quarteto Nuevo’s program effectively melds the music of ancient worlds and faraway places with a contemporary groove. Their unique instrumentation richly colors their wide-ranging repertoire, from Heitor Villa-Lobos to Chick Corea to traditional Macedonian works to original compositions.
