Ruckus and Davóne Tines, bass-baritone
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
A baroque band with a fresh, visceral approach, Ruckus aims to fuse the early music movement’s questing, creative spirit with the grit, groove, and jangle of American roots music, creating a unique sound. Time traveling through four centuries of reimagined songs, hymns, and ballads, Ruckus and path-breaking singer Davóne Tines have created an extraordinary program commemorating the country’s anniversary year. Presented by Friends of Chamber Music and The Reser.
“The world’s only period-instrument rock band.” San Francisco Classical Voice

Program: What is Your Hand in This?
The 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence demands an acknowledgment that the quest for a better world continues through the present moment. How can this fragile American experiment hold? How can we passionately call out the wrongs we see, while living together as a people? Can we find compassion for others? Can you find compassion for yourself?
Time traveling through four centuries of reimagined songs, hymns and ballads, the intrepid music band Ruckus and pathbreaking singer and creator Davóne Tines converge to deliver the bite of America’s revolutionary musics in order to ask the simple question: “What is your hand in this?”
