The Benson Portland, Curio Collection by Hilton, invites the community to celebrate one of Portland’s most beloved holiday traditions — the 54th Annual Gingerbread Unveiling — filling the hotel’s grand lobby with the warmth, wonder, and joy of the season. Guests of all ages are welcome to enjoy live music, children’s activities, a hot chocolate station, a surprise visit from Santa, and more as The Benson kicks off the holidays in true Portland style. 

This year’s gingerbread masterpiece remains a closely guarded secret — but whispers from the kitchen hint at a design that may transport visitors to a land of heart, courage, and a touch of magic. As always, the creation promises to be nothing short of spectacular. Leading the culinary artistry once again is Executive Chef David Diffendorfer, who has delighted guests for more than two decades with his intricate, larger-than-life gingerbread displays. Each year, Chef Diffendorfer and his team bring to life imaginative creations that capture the spirit of the season and showcase extraordinary craftsmanship. The Benson is proud to continue its partnership with FOX 12 and Les Schwab Tire Centers’ Toy Drive. Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to help brighten the holidays for local children and families in need. 

“The Gingerbread Unveiling has been a cherished tradition at The Benson for over five decades,” said Ryan Kunzer, General Manager. “Each year, Chef Diffendorfer and his team create something magical that brings the community together in the spirit of the season.” 

The Gingerbread display will remain on view in The Benson’s historic lobby throughout the holiday season, inviting guests and visitors alike to experience the wonder of one of Portland’s most iconic holiday traditions.
