Coffee Camp: Roasting, Cupping, and Brewing
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Are you curious about how great coffee is made, tasted, and brewed? This hands-on adventure is your chance to step into the roastery, cup like a pro, and dial in your own brew alongside local experts. Hosted at Portland’s Buckman Coffee Factory, this three-hour hands-on experience, exclusive to Coffee Fest Portland, is perfect for beginners and curious coffee drinkers looking to build a deeper understanding of how roasted coffee is made and tasted. You’ll explore how different brewing variables affect flavor by tasting coffee brewed with various manual methods, practice palate development through side-by-side coffee tastings (known as triangulation), try your hand at pulling espresso shots, and see how different roast levels shape the final cup.
Buckman Coffee Factory is a co-roasting facility and longtime hub for business, barista, and roaster training in Portland, known for making professional coffee education accessible and hands-on.
NOTE:
This event is part of Coffee Fest Portland, a two-day trade show for specialty coffee professionals and coffee lovers, coming to the Oregon Convention Center June 12–14 2025. To register for Coffee Camp, you'll first need to purchase a Coffee Fest badge, and then you can add this workshop to your registration.
