VOID Tattoo Fest
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Announcing VOID Tattoo Fest, an artist-run expo inviting top-tier talent from around the world to Portland. VOID Tattoo Fest is the creative vision of Portland tattooers and shop owners, Brian Wilson (Wilson Brothers Tattoo, formerly Scapegoat Tattoo) and Olivia Britz-Wheat (Mortal Emblem). The first-of-its-kind curated tattoo event brings together over 120 artists from around the world to showcase their talent, network with fellow tattooers, and enjoy local music, food, and beverages from participating vendors and sponsors, like on-site Jupiter Next bar Hey Love. The event is ticketed and open to the public, with a series of seminars taught by tattoo experts available to licensed professionals only.
Taking over the Jupiter Hotel and Jupiter NEXT locations, VOID Tattoo Fest will feature live tattooing throughout the compound, transforming two floors of the Original Jupiter motel rooms into mini tattoo shops and turning the upstairs ballroom of Jupiter NEXT into a convention-style tattoo space. Appointments can be made directly with your favorite artists, and walk-ups are welcome where available. Each day, the fest will also offer seminars for the local and traveling tattooer community (available to licensed professionals only), enriching collective knowledge through world-renowned instructors and fulfilling Oregon continuing education requirements. Classes include workshops such as script lettering and oil painting, business development and tax prep, and intros to machine building, hand-drawn lettering, and large-scale tattooing.
On Saturday, East 9th Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic for the public to enjoy and walk through a non-ticketed vendor market in between Original Jupiter and Jupiter NEXT, featuring vintage clothing and jewelry vendors, as well as curated food trucks with vegan and gluten-free options, like Obon Shokudo and Cobra Dogs. Enjoy a feast for the eyes with art from hundreds of tattooers, as well as local artisans from Portland. Each night, there will also be a juried tattoo contest with a ‘Best of Day’ and ‘Best of Show’ award, along with smaller sub-categories of awards. The entry fee will go towards mutual aid for local community organizations: Q Center, Pear, and Equitable Giving Circle.
