Precipice: re-membering, forgetting, and claiming home
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Precipice is a magical-realist, fluid solo play that tenderly holds place, house/home, and mementos as doorways to connection while deeply questioning materialistic notions of ownership. As a third-generation Black Portlander and Oregonian, Damaris longs to step beyond the overwhelming weight of her family’s past and the clutter of her inherited possessions while embracing the value of listening to the land. But as she struggles to let go, she must confront the tangled legacies of history, memory, and belonging. Pressing against the edges of what she’s been given and what she must release, she journeys toward a precipice—one she both seeks and resists—where transformation awaits.
