Tension/ Release by Errorgrid and Heterodox
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Errorgrid is an art community showcasing the work of experimental electronic music artists with a strong focus on investigating human nature, emotions and themes around resilience, interrelations and boundless self-expression. Using music as a gateway for exploration, healing and self-observation lies at the core. Seeking to provide platforms on which musicians can celebrate their truth free of genre constraints or cultural judgment while finding appreciation and useful feedback from their peers and listeners alike.
The core belief is that while technology is an inherent part of the art and provides the tools necessary for its creation, it must not interfere with the essence of the message to preserve the innate humaneness that speaks through the art. The analog truth must not become quantized.
"Electronic music is electronic in its doing, not in its being."
Tension/Release is the first Errorgrid showcase in its new Portland home and celebrates the release of the compilation "Tension/Release 2" – a joint effort between Errorgrid and local label Heterodox Records, directed by local artists Nundale and Puxflux. Built around the concept of polarizing energies it presents a selection of Oregon-based artists who were asked to contribute tracks to either energy in order to form a balanced whole. The compilation lives from the individual interpretation as well as the all-over curation of these single energies.
Attendees to the show will receive a 50% discount to download the compilation on Bandcamp and have access to exclusive merch only available at the event.
Filming and photography will take place. By attending, you agree to be visible in any footage produced. The show will be live recorded and made available to the public via Errorgrid.
