Behind Closed Doors II: Figurative Studies from Hipbone Studio

For over 35 years, Hipbone Art Studio, located on inner SE Burnside Ave, has served Portland artists by offering multiple weekly figure drawing sessions that are open to everyone at an affordable price. These drawing sessions have created a vibrant and supportive community comprising a wide variety of artistic disciplines. The artists who participate range from fine artists, professional illustrators, comic book artists, animators, retirees, students and folks who just want to try figure drawing for the first time. This opportunity to practice is the main reason most people come to the studio — it allows them to keep their skills or “chops” up. The work produced during these sessions is often amazing despite being viewed merely as practice. Another thing that happens at Hipbone Art Studio is that, with so many creative individuals laser-focused on figure drawing, it makes for a unique experience for all who attend.
