Do you have anxiety about the state of the world? You’re not alone. This is an era of disconnection, environmental devastation, and despair. It feels like there’s an ever-growing list of worries. From climate change to political upheaval, the world is changing fast, and often, it feels like there’s not much anyone can do about it — but this is not so. People are speaking out and planning for a resilient future despite how the world looks. Do you want to join the movement of people taking proactive action? Do you want to connect with people looking for practical solutions to complex problems? Then the Annual Rewilding Conference is the place for you.

The term “rewilding” covers a broad spectrum of ideas and actions for a world in the throws of the sixth mass extinction — from conservation to the reintroduction of species, from the practice of ancestral skills to ancestral diets, from indigenous sovereignty to traditional ecological knowledge. This is a search for meaning and tangible actions at this pivotal point in the human story; rewilding and its many subjects are drawing attention from a wide range of communities. To help foster connections among these communities and build social capital across differing practices, Rewild Portland presents the Annual North American Rewilding Conference (ANARC).

ANARC is a grassroots, nonhierarchical, collaborative, social conference. At the conference, laypeople and experts share ideas, experiences, and knowledge across fields, connect solutions, clarify visions, and broaden their perspectives while rooting them in place. It’s a think tank of the most innovative rewilders, where people walk away feeling motivated, inspired, and connected to the larger picture of social and environmental justice.

On Friday, a curated lineup of innovative speakers from a wide range of topics will inspire dialogue and action. Saturday is the Open Space portion of the conference, during which participants create the sessions and program collaboratively. This open-format conference is unlike any other. It’s something you have to experience for yourself to understand. Sunday morning will be “field projects” where participants can get out of their heads and put their hands in the soil, connecting with a place through learning about ecological restoration. Sunday afternoon, at the final portion of the conference, a keynote speaker connects the dots between all that is shared over the weekend and creates a shared vision. Don’t miss out; register now.
