Aurora Chorus "Inner Gardens" Winter Concert
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Aurora Chorus gathers to reflect on the transfigurations of winter and the motions for which it calls tending to “inner gardens,” in the words of the Austrian poet and writer Rainer Maria Rilke. The chorus will share songs looking at the nature of winter's ability to inspire inner and interpersonal cultivation.
“So often I see art about winter that talks about how dreary it is or talks about the fortitude we need to grit through its harshness – so this year I wanted to present a concert that truly embraces winter and gives us food for contemplating its unique inspirations. I love Rainer Maria Rilke's framing of it as a time for cultivating one's inner gardens and am excited to share some music with the community that I hope brightens our senses for appreciating this time of year. Please join us!”
