Froelick Gallery: Japanese Artists Exhibition

Froelick Gallery is proud to welcome back Seiichi Hiroshima with a solo exhibition. Seiichi Hiroshima is a master printmaker, Moon & Dog Press co-owner, and print artist living and working in Tokyo, Japan. Hiroshima primarily uses the color mezzotint process, an extremely difficult technique he has perfected. He scratches plates with a rocker and then burnishes the plate to create his compositions — the meticulous practice results in a velvety quality to the printed image.
In addition to his own studio work, Seiichi Hiroshima famously began printing for Oregonian artist Rick Bartow in 1997 after Bartow's first trip to Japan in 1992. Rick Bartow had a deep fascination and interest in Japanese themes and imagery. Master printer Seiichi Hiroshima and Rick Bartow collaborated on over 200 editions until Bartow's passing in 2016. Many of these prominent editions are available at Froelick Gallery.

In celebration of Asian Heritage Month, Froelick Gallery will present a group show of work by represented artists from Japan: Yoshihiro Kitai, Takahiko Hayashi, and Ritsuko Ozeki.
