Alex Jordan and Boy and Bean
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Alex Jordan is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who has been surrounded by music his whole life. Alex started singing at a young age. The son of a high school music teacher, dabbled with brass instruments (playing primarily Jazz trombone), harmonica, ukulele, bass and piano before eventually discovering the electric guitar at age 17. Songwriting and playing with a few bands throughout high school and college, he kept up his guitar practice while studying classical voice and music education at The Bob Cole Conservatory, California State University, Long Beach, before joining the road crew for Cubensis – The Grateful Dead Music Experience upon graduating in 2012. Alex regularly subbed in with the band on rhythm guitar and vocals throughout 2013 before returning to San Francisco.
Boy and Bean, a local swing/jazz trio, has made a name for themselves with their faithful covers — with a modern twist — of Depression-era songs from the ’20s and ’30s. Luke and Amber Short harmonize beautifully on vocals, with Luke on guitar and Andrew Jones on upright bass. Covering songs by The Mills Brothers, The Boswell Sisters, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, and crooners of days-gone-by. Boy and Bean gives Depression Era classics a youthful energy that gets audiences of all ages smiling and tapping their toes.
