Blondie
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
Blondie has been a musical trailblazer for over four decades and remains an enduring global icon, continuing to inform the worlds of music, fashion, and art. From their early days as an irreverent Lower Eastside punk band to their later status as international ambassadors of New York cool, Debbie Harry’s persona and the band’s boundary-pushing pop have shaped the look and sound of many chart-topping female artists who followed in the last five decades.
Comprised of founding members singer-songwriter Debbie Harry, guitarist and co-writer Chris Stein, and powerhouse drummer Clem Burke along with band members bassist Glen Matlock, guitarist Tommy Kessler and keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen, Blondie’s chart-topping success, fearless spirit and rare longevity have resulted in a wide array of accolades. Those achievements have included an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, a NME Godlike Genius Award in 2014, a Q Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 2016, the 2017 Silver Clef Outstanding Achievement Award, and more than 45 million albums sold worldwide to date. In 2022, the Blondie Archival Box Set “Against The Odds” was nominated for a Best Historical Album Grammy Award.
