A Dream Play
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
PSU’s Theater program presents Caryl Churchill’s adaptation of August Strindberg’s groundbreaking A Dream Play. Written in 1901, it represented an early effort to challenge the dominance of realism on European stages. Strindberg wrote that he “sought to imitate the disjointed yet seemingly logical shape of a dream. Everything can happen; everything is possible and probable.” Churchill’s powerful adaptation speaks succinctly to modern-day concerns about the seemingly insurmountable gap between our hopes and troubling realities.
