For the first time ever, the World Athletics (track and field, called “athletics” outside of the U.S.) Championships will be held in the United States. The newly reimagined and legendary Hayward Field on the University of Oregon’s campus in Eugene, Oregon will be host to approximately 2,000 track and field athletes from over 200 nations. Known as TrackTown USA, Eugene is located only 90 miles/145 km south of Portland – an easy drive for visitors staying overnight in Portland.
