The Portland Revels returns for the 29th year to celebrate the season with its latest Midwinter Revels performance: Emerald Odyssey. 

It’s a stormy evening in Kinvarra when an out-of-town stranger walks into Móirín’s pub and interrupts the community’s celebration of the Winter Solstice. Móirín decides that with enough Irish singing, dancing, and storytelling, they can make their new friend Irish by the time the sun rises on the shortest day. But the stranger has a story of her own to tell…

At its heart, the annual Midwinter Revels production is a celebration of community and the changing seasons. Each winter, the Portland Revels chooses a different theme, time and place to tell an enchanting story of the longest night of the year and of the return of light and hope that follows the winter solstice. 

The Midwinter Revels: Emerald Odyssey production promises to be a feast for the eyes and ears, with lively music, lush costumes gorgeous scenery, and a cast ranging from ages 7 to 70+. It’s a joyful, uplifting way for friends and family to revel together during the darkest time of the year.
