The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

Make a splash about the urgent, dire need for meaningful salmon recovery before beloved Chinook and B-run steelhead runs across Oregon, Washington, and Idaho start to go extinct in the next five years.

It’s been an exceptionally hot and dry summer, compounding the impacts of the lower Snake River dams and causing even more stress on imperiled salmon populations.

We’ve spent at least 20 years in court and the government has spent more than $17 billion dollars trying to recover endangered salmon and steelhead, only to see continued declines. It’s clear the status quo isn’t working and we are running out of time to find durable solutions.

Join us in your boats on the Willamette River between the Morrison and Burnside bridges near the waterfront in Portland at 1:30pm on August 7th to urge lawmakers to get serious about salmon recovery. We printed 30 vinyl 6’ x 3’ vinyl banners for folks. Make sure to sign up and reserve your banner here (https://nwsteelheaders.salsalabs.org/rally-banners).

Don't have a boat? Meet us on the Tom McCall Waterfront near the fountain with your signs. We'll have postcards and petitions for you, too.
