The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

As businesses host work experiences for young professionals of color, how do we measure if a work experience was meaningful? With Amani Austin, Assistant Director of the Emerging Leaders Internship program, we will explore how to get beyond the number of internships as our measurement of success to better understand the experience of interns at our companies. Through this session, participants can expect to gain an understanding of:

  • How to apply a strengths-based approach to measuring meaningful work experience
  • Guidance on types of questions to ask in survey work with interns
  • How to act on information you receive
  • Hear case testimonials and scenarios of work experience situations
  • See dashboards of example businesses measuring & reporting on work experience actions
  • Become familiar with annual reporting for Portland Means Progress businesses

This session is one of a 4-part series hosted by Portland Means Progress that is free and open to the public. You can attend any one of these sessions or all of them. The other sessions in the series are:

  • October 26: Accountability in Action
  • December 2020: Measuring Culture Change (registration and details coming soon)
  • January 2021: Measuring Intentional Purchasing (registration and details coming soon)
