The following description was submitted by the event organizer.

PassinArt: A Theatre Company presents August Wilson's Seven Guitars, directed by William (Bill) Earl Ray.

The timeless Pittsburgh Cycle of ten stage plays by playwright August Wilson examines African American life in each decade of the 20th century. Sixth in the cycle, Seven Guitars tells the powerful story of seven African American characters, four men and three women, in 1948.

The New York Drama Critics’ Circle awarded Seven Guitars its Best Play Award in 1996. Seven Guitars was nominated for the 1995 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the 1996 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, and the 1996 Tony Award for Best Play.

For forty years, PassinArt has produced African American theatre in Oregon to educate, entertain, and celebrate our culture while addressing critical issues in the community. We pass on art, history, and culture from one generation to the next.
