PDX CONTEMPORARY ART is pleased to present new paintings by Portland-based artist Barbara Stafford.
Coined by the artist as ‘after images,’ Barbara Stafford’s paintings are studies in light and memory. Working primarily from a place of nostalgia for the land of the Pacific Northwest, Stafford’s images emerge through remembering and reconstructing moments experienced with the landscape. Ethereal and atmospheric, optimistic and nostalgic, visceral and bright, each painting allows the viewer to wander through space— reconstructing our own understanding of the land by taking visual cues from the Artist’s loose gestures and bright color palettes.
