Hannah Altman: Kavana
The following description was submitted by the event organizer.
In Kavana, Hannah Altman explores her Jewish heritage and intergenerational memory, using photography to remember and reinterpret stories that have been passed down by the women in her family and generated through ritual and folklore. For the artist, her photographs “are positioning themselves in the past as memories, in the present as stories being told, and in the future as rituals to interpret and repeat.”
