On their first national tour in twenty-three years, the Young Fresh Fellows celebrated the 40th anniversary of that legendary first album, on the heels of a smokin’ remixed version released on Omnivore Records. With new drummer John Perrin of NRBQ (the ONLY sticksman deemed qualified to replace the retiring Tad Hutchison), the ridiculous run started in the Pacific Northwest and ended at Wilco’s Solid Sound Fest.
With but one day off during the frenetic, jam-packed, self-booked tour, thier typically rash decision to record at The Loft in Chicago that day seemed rather dubious. Coming off five raging sets in the previous three days, with two members ill, and armed with zero new songs, what could go wrong? The results are eleven songs, learned on the spot and tracked live with famed Tom Schick at the helm.
